I’ve never experienced a vast amount of success in terms of a following for my music, but during my various projects there have been certain compositions which fans have taken to more than others. The one song that seemed to catch folks’ ears more than any other was ‘Love Don’t Rock Me in My Boat’ which I performed and recorded both by myself and with The Patches. I soon grew tired of the song; of people asking me to play it over and over again. But now, looking back, I can appreciate what it was that so many people saw in it.
It is about my first experience with love down in London, how magical it was, and also how confusing. I’d never experienced the contentment which comes when you find your life partner, and at first it seemed a little scary, until I was to realise how precious and valuable it is in its essence for my soul.
