City Limits

This song is about trying to escape the city. Me and my wife are both lovers of the countryside, but work always draws us (rather begrudgingly) back into the city, and we’re constantly left feeling misplaced…

Lyrics:

We’ve only got ourselves to blame,
And we ain’t gonna get out of this city alive.
We try to step back out again;
We ain’t gonna fit within community lines.

Some things could never get any better,
On some things we’ll always rely.
Some friends won’t be there just when you need them,
And god knows we’ll need them tonight.

But we’ve only got ourselves to blame,
And we ain’t gonna get out of this city alive.
We try to step back out again;
We ain’t gonna fit within community lines.

It’s better the devil you know.
You settle for less than you owe,
Instead of just crawling back home.

We’ve only got ourselves to blame.

We try to step back out again.
